As many as 400 prescriptions a day are filled, as well as providing medications for 50 in-patients and for several mobile clinics.
The majority of our supplies come from the state national pharmacy, but many are donated, purchased, or requested from various other sources. TB drugs and HIV treatment is always available, but most other medications often are in short supply, so many times second or third choices must be used – even for critical supplies like antibiotics and pain killers. Some things are particularly difficult to obtain, such as chemotherapy for cancer or hepatitis vaccinations. Often we think we are adequately supplied, but then a new need arises…
