Staff scholarships needed
The staff at Bairo Pite Clinic are very keen to further their education. We have paid and unpaid staff working in numerous areas of healthcare provision. Many of the staff have learnt their skills ‘on the job’.
Informal education sessions are currently provided by volunteers at the clinic (often medical students from overseas). They devise their own sessions and teach interested staff members from 7:30-8am on most mornings.
We are seeking opportunities to formally improve the education of our staff in a higher education setting. We have a number of young staff members who are highly competent, fluent in English and keen to study at a tertiary level in the areas of Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health.
It would be of enormous value to the clinic and East Timor as a newly emerging nation if these Timorese staff could be provided with opportunities for further Tertiary Education. We ask that anyone who could possibly help us to address this need please contact Dr Dan.
